## Summary

The NHS Norfolk and Suffolk Integrated Care Board has completed the award stage for a significant contract titled "Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Acute Services Contract 2026 - 2031." This contract pertains to the health care services industry and covers a wide range of acute services across Norfolk and Waveney, providing comprehensive geographical coverage. The procurement process was conducted under the Provider Selection Regime as outlined in the Health Care Services Regulations 2023. This direct award contract, effective from 1 April 2026, spans five years with the possibility of a three-year extension. The services will be delivered across multiple locations, including NHS regions UKH15 and UKH16, with key services such as A&E, Ambulance Services, and Community Services included. The overall contract value, including potential extensions, is approximately £11.8 billion.

This procurement presents substantial growth opportunities for large healthcare service providers, particularly those already operating extensive acute service networks. As the contract is awarded without a prior competitive call for competition, opportunities for new business entries are limited initially. However, suppliers with complementary service offerings might engage through possible contract modifications during its term. Given the scale and scope of the contract, businesses equipped to handle large-scale health services with experience in acute healthcare delivery stand to benefit significantly, especially if additional service needs arise during the contract's duration. The decision to utilise a direct award indicates a preference for continuity in service provision, favouring providers who can demonstrate reliability and the capacity to integrate further health services seamlessly.
