## Summary

North Tyneside Borough Council has completed a procurement process titled "Consultancy Services - A Marmot Partnership" aimed at fostering a healthier and longer life for local residents by addressing health inequalities and poverty. The contract, active as of 16th April 2026, was awarded to UCL Consultants Ltd, a small and medium enterprise (SME) based in London, with the performance period running until 31st December 2027. This initiative falls under the services category, specifically "Business and management consultancy and related services," as classified under CPV code 79400000. The project is based in North Tyneside, UK, and aligns with various strategic plans and partnerships within the region. Managed under the governance of the North Tyneside Strategic Partnership, this contract reflects a comprehensive and cross-sectoral approach to public service reform.

The Marmot Partnership presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in consultancy, particularly those specialising in public health, community development, and socio-economic projects. Given its focus on reducing health disparities and alleviating poverty, businesses with a strong track record in these areas, especially SMEs with innovative approaches, can greatly benefit from similar procurement processes. The partnership also demands collaboration with local authorities, healthcare partners, and community groups, making it ideal for firms adept at multi-stakeholder engagement and strategic planning. Such projects not only offer financial growth prospects but also bolster reputational standing by contributing to meaningful societal change.

## Notice

The two year partnership aims to: * work with local people and partners and the Institute of Health Equity, to become a Marmot place, helping everyone - no matter their background, live a longer and healthier life, and * tackle poverty by working with people to prevent them from falling into hardship and providing them with timely support when they need it most. The approach will be led by the Director of Public Health and championed by the Elected Mayor and Cabinet. The governance will be led by the North Tyneside Strategic Partnership (NTSP). This work will also align and integrate with several other plans, programmes of work and partnerships, including the Council Plan, the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy, the Local Plan and wider Public Service Reform. The agenda is cross sectoral and place-based and will involve North Tyneside Council, all healthcare partners represented on the NTSP and Health and Wellbeing Board, the community and voluntary sector, public services and businesses and residents themselves.
