## Summary

Leeds City Council is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "The Provision of Services and/or Facilities to Support the Acceptance, Storage and Treatment of Organic Wastes, including Food and Garden Waste". The procurement falls under the "services" category within the refuse and waste-related services industry. It encompasses locations within the United Kingdom, specifically focusing on the Leeds area. The preliminary market engagement is scheduled, with a due date on the 12th of June, 2026, for feedback collection. This exercise aims to gather insights from the market to refine and focus future procurement processes, although it is not yet a formal invitation to tender. The contract period is planned from April 2029 to March 2044, and the procurement method is an open procedure, ensuring competitive participation from interested parties.

This tender opportunity presents substantial business growth potential, especially for organisations specialising in waste management services. Companies with expertise in processing organic wastes, including both food and garden debris, can find significant long-term engagement possibilities worth approximately £160 million. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, as the tender process is designed to be inclusive. Businesses possessing capabilities in innovative waste treatment technologies or scalable operations in the environmental service sector are well-positioned to benefit from this procurement. Engaging in this process allows vendors to contribute to public service enhancement while capitalising on the growing demand for efficient waste management solutions.
