## Summary

The Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process focused on the Collection, Storage, Sale, Disposal, and Recycling of Scrap Metal Assets and Batteries. This initiative includes non-hazardous Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) and redundant assets. The procurement process, identified as the UK2 - Preliminary Market Engagement, aims to gather market information through a Request for Information (RFI) with a submission deadline of 7th August 2026. The RFI is part of early market engagement activities intended to inform future procurement strategies. Interested suppliers are encouraged to register and participate via the given platform, with a supplier engagement event anticipated thereafter. The procurement strategy stresses compliance, environmental protection, and operational efficiency, involving a contract slated to commence on 1st June 2027 and run till 31st May 2031, with possibilities for extension.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for firms specialising in waste management and recycling, with a focus on metals, batteries, and electronic waste. The Ministry of Defence seeks suppliers capable of supporting efficient service delivery with innovative, scalable solutions that enhance resilience and optimise performance. Businesses adept at delivering environmentally sustainable solutions and those with capabilities in handling and processing scrap metals at scale are well-suited to compete. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to express interest, highlighting the procurement's accessibility to flexible and competitive market players. This framework agreement represents a substantial financial opportunity with a planned contract value reaching up to £18.8 million, subject to renewal and extension, making it an attractive proposal for businesses aiming to expand their portfolio in the public sector.
