## Summary

The National Library of Scotland is currently in the planning stage for a public procurement contract titled "Film Scanner and Digitisation System" under the industry category of "Imaging and archiving system" (CPV code 48329000). This contract involves the supply, delivery, installation, support, and maintenance of a film scanner to create digital copies of various film gauges. The procurement process is open, with demonstrations of solutions required, which may occur via site visits or online. The contract is expected to be installed and fully operational by 31 March 2027 at the Library's premises at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. The procurement is governed by the EU Directive 32014L0024 and is supported by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA).

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in imaging and archiving systems, specifically those with expertise in film scanning technologies. Firms with the capability to handle delicate film materials, including warped or brittle films with damaged perforations, are particularly suited for this opportunity. The requirement for synchronisation of optical and magnetic sound offers additional growth potential for businesses with expertise in comprehensive audio-visual solutions. This contract opens pathways for suppliers to demonstrate and expand their products and services within an established public institution, thereby offering visibility and potential future collaborations within the cultural heritage sector.
