## Summary

The York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP is inviting suppliers to participate in a pre-tender market engagement for "Waste Management Services," specifically targeting refuse and waste-related services. This procurement process is being conducted on behalf of the York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is an open procedure intended to find partners who can offer integrated, compliance-driven, and sustainable waste management solutions across the estate. Key deadlines include the enquiry period ending on 16th June 2026 and the tender period closing on 1st July 2026. The anticipated award is on 16th July 2026, with services beginning on 6th August 2026. The procurement is valued at £2.1 million, and three lots are available encompassing domestic waste, dry mixed recycling, food waste, WEEE, and battery waste. Contract extensions may be possible depending on supplier performance and ongoing service requirements.

This tender represents significant opportunities for waste management businesses seeking to expand within the public sector, particularly those specialising in sustainability and compliance within healthcare settings. Ideal candidates for this contract would be organisations experienced in waste segregation, recycling, treatment, and transportation. With a focus on technical quality (55%) and pricing (45%), businesses that can deliver high-quality services competitively are well-suited to participate. Moreover, the potential for contract extensions means that successful bidders could establish a long-term partnership with a major healthcare provider in the UK, creating further growth opportunities.
