## Summary

Diamond Light Source Limited, located at the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus in Didcot, United Kingdom, has initiated an active procurement process for the project titled "DLSITT1101 - K14 SWIFT Beamline Kirkpatrick-Baez (KB) Mirrors System for Diamond Light Source." This project falls under the "goods" category within the central government public authority. The tender involves the design, supply, manufacture, and installation of a system featuring Kirkpatrick-Baez mirrors, essential for the Diamond-II programme's enhancement of scientific capabilities. The procurement follows an open procedure, with submissions to be emailed and a hard copy sent by 26th June 2026. The contract period is expected to commence on 21st July 2026 and conclude by 13th December 2027. The process aligns with the legal framework provided by UKPGA 2023/54.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses proficient in the manufacturing and supply of precision optical systems. With a contract value potentially reaching £300,000, it is particularly suited for small and medium-sized enterprises capable of offering technical quality, experience, and competitive pricing. The focus on specialised goods like beamline mirrors indicates an opportunity for companies in the optical engineering sector to contribute to leading scientific research infrastructure. Additionally, businesses offering complementary services such as temperature monitoring and vacuum systems may find potential to engage in this procurement process. The procurement process encourages both electronic and hard copy submissions, providing flexibility for participating organisations.

## Notice

Located on the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond Light Source (DLS) is a leading-edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. DLS allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour of the world around us at the atomic and molecular level. To continue delivering the world-changing science that Diamond enables, the facility is being upgraded to Diamond-II, a co-ordinated programme of development that combines a major machine upgrade with new instruments and complementary improvements to optics, detectors, sample environment and delivery capabilities, and computing, as well as integrated and correlative methods. This will be transformative in speed and spatial resolution and will offer users streamlined access to enhanced instruments for life and physical sciences. The scope of the contract is for the design, supply of material, manufacture, assembly, test, delivery, installation and commissioning of a two-mirror combined system (a pair of Kirkpatrick-Baez (KB) mirrors) and its position adjustment systems. The mirrors will focus the beam onto a sample positioned in the K14 beamline second end-station. * The minimum scope of the contract should include: HFM - Horizontally Focusing Mirror - Horizontally (outboard) reflecting, monochromatic beam mirror & mechanics. * VFM - Vertically Focusing Mirror- Vertically (upward) reflecting, monochromatic beam mirror & mechanics. * Temperature monitoring for interlocking. * Vacuum vessel. * Support frame. * Interface to beamline services. * Training for Diamond personnel in the operation of the mirrors * Installation of the mirrors in their benders at the DLS Optics Metrology Lab (OML). See specification for further details.
