## Summary

Anglian Water Services Limited is initiating a procurement process under the title "Market Engagement for Lone working support" primarily under the industry category of safety equipment. The process is in the planning stage, with significant focus on pre-market engagement. The company operates across a vast geographic area in the UK, and is seeking to enhance their Lone Worker System, crucial for the safety of about 3,000 operational staff. Interested businesses are invited to participate in a market engagement exercise by completing a questionnaire by the deadline on 30th June 2026. The procurement process includes the use of a framework agreement and will operate as part of the utilities special regime. The future notice date for communication is set for 5th August 2026.

This tender offers an opportunity for businesses specialising in safety and control equipment, particularly those with an interest in lone worker support technologies. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, given their suitability classification for the tender lot. The contract period is expected to run from 4th August 2027 until 4th August 2030, with a possibility for renewal. For businesses looking to expand their operations through significant contracts within the utilities sector, particularly those providing advanced technological solutions for safety and monitoring, this contract represents a strategic opportunity for growth and long-term collaboration with a prominent utility provider in the UK.

## Notice

Anglian Water operates over 6000 sites, spread over a large geographic area, from the Humber to the Thames estuary. Over the years, significant efficiencies have been made to the operational running through advances in technology and automation. An outcome of these advancements has seen the need for fewer operational staff to maintain expected levels of service. As a consequence of these advancements, it is now a fairly common occurrence for operational employees to be sent to site working on their own - and become a 'Lone Worker' (LW). There is a risk that an incident or accident may occur impacting the LW's health and safety that requires help and assistance. As part of its duty of care Anglian Water has a Mobile Phone Lone Worker System that is used by its 3,000 (approx.) workers that have the potential to be a LW. Before starting a job and once on site the system is activated by the LW using his company mobile phone to record his location and to set an alert time period that is then monitored centrally by the Operational Management Centre (OMC) team in Lincoln. An alert is raised by the system if the LW doesn't update using his mobile before the end of the set period or if a panic button is pressed - an escalation procedure is then followed by the OMC to make contact and if necessary find the LW.
