## Summary

The University of Exeter has issued an open tender for the collection and disposal of clinical and chemical waste, inviting submissions by 22nd June 2026. This procurement falls under the category of hazardous waste services and is segmented into two lots, focusing on clinical waste disposal via energy incineration and the collection of chemical waste for off-site disposal or recycling. With a gross value estimate of £888,000, the procurement process is active and is conducted under an open procedure, allowing electronic submissions. Prospective bidders can make inquiries until 4th June 2026, with an anticipated award decision by 10th July 2026, and contract commencement set for 30th July 2026. The services are required across the University’s sites in Exeter and Penryn, UK.

This tender presents substantial business growth opportunities for companies specialising in hazardous waste management, particularly those with expertise in radioactive, toxic, and medical waste services. SMEs are considered suitable, indicating a supportive environment for smaller enterprises wishing to enter or expand within public sector contracts. The open procedure ensures a transparent competitive bidding process, where technical quality and pricing are key criteria for awarding the contract. Businesses with innovative solutions for waste-to-energy incineration or chemical recycling would be well-placed to leverage this opportunity and potentially secure a long-term client with optional contract renewals up to 2031.
