## Summary

The public procurement process is being managed by United Kingdom Fusion Energy Ltd, which seeks to engage a Fuel Cycle System Partner (FCSP). This tender is situated in the engineering services industry, specifically focusing on complex, safety-critical projects within the nuclear fusion sector. The buying organisation is located at Culham Campus, Abingdon, in the UK. This procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a crucial milestone being the submission of a Market Engagement Notice (MEN) response by 5pm on 23rd June 2026. This early market engagement aims to explore suppliers' capabilities, which will inform the scope and objectives of future procurement activities. The procurement type is service-oriented and involves collaboration with potential partners until 2029 for programme stage 2A evaluation.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in engineering, particularly those with expertise in tritium processing, systems and controls engineering, prototype design, and manufacturing engineering relevant to Fuel Cycle Systems. It is ideal for businesses that can offer strategic industrialisation and design integration services. Suppliers are encouraged to engage either individually or collaboratively, enabling them to contribute to substantial technology demonstration projects. As the work requires highly specialised skills in engineering services, including mechanical and electrical engineering, companies with relevant technical knowledge and experience in industrialisation activities are well-suited to compete and contribute to these pivotal projects in the fusion energy sector.

## Notice

For the purposes of this early market engagement, UK Fusion Energy Ltd is seeking responses from suppliers capable of providing engineering and technical knowledge to support complex, safety-critical engineering projects, delivering defined work packages whilst supporting technology demonstration projects and industrialisation activities as described within 6.2 in the attachment. The proposed contract is intended to allow a System Partner to support UK Fusion Energy by collaboration with potential other partners on the above work as well as with UK Fusion Energy. UK Fusion Energy is also very much interested in understanding suppliers' capabilities and experience operating as a Strategic Industrialisation Partner and Design Integrator. UK Fusion Energy is open to either single supplier and collaborative submissions to achieve the aims of the subsequent invitation to tender. The Supplier(s) will be expected to collaborate with UKFE during programme stage 2A until 2029 to inform decision making for stage 2B and the following stages. The indicative scope of technology demonstration and industrialisation projects is expected to include, but is not limited to, the following areas: *Tritium process plant engineering and safety. *Systems and Controls engineering. *Testing rig design and delivery. *Prototype design and delivery. *Tritium monitoring and control technology demonstration and supply chain development. *Manufacturing engineering, materials development and supply chain development for Fuel Cycle Systems. *Process equipment demonstration for tritium/breeder extraction and purification sub-systems.
