## Summary

The Victoria and Albert Museum is in the planning stage of a procurement process for the "Public Address and Voice Alarm Upgrade Design, Supply and Install" at its South Kensington location. This initiative falls under the works category, with specific relevance to fire detection and alarm systems, and public address systems. The buyer, classified under public authority central government, is seeking to replace its existing system, which has been operational since 2008. A preliminary market engagement is underway, inviting suppliers to participate through a survey to understand market capability and supplier availability, with insights needed by 12th June 2026. The contract period is proposed from 1st July 2026 to 30th March 2027.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in the design, supply, and installation of public address and voice alarm systems. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), as well as firms specialising in the installation and maintenance of such systems, are particularly suited to provide input and compete. The project is also suitable for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), offering a pathway to engage with a high-profile institution. Engaging early in the market through the provided survey link will be advantageous, enabling businesses to shape the procurement approach and prepare competitive bids when the tender is officially launched.

## Notice

We are looking to engage with suppliers of public address and voice alarm systems to help inform how we procure a replacement to our existing system at V&A South Kensington which has been in place since 2008 and is nearing end of life. We want to hear from OEMs of these systems, as well as those that install and maintain them. We are inviting potential suppliers to tell us their views by completing a short survey. The purpose of this survey is to support our understanding of current market capability, supplier availability and potential delivery approaches, and to obtain insight into how identified project risks may be mitigated should we go out to tender.
