## Summary

The North East London Integrated Care Board (NEL ICB) has successfully concluded a contract with the North East London NHS Foundation Trust for the provision of community and mental health services under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. This procurement involved a direct award, utilising the Direct Award Process A as specified in the regulations, and has been confirmed as complete. The contract, covering the industry category of hospital and related services, will commence on the 1st of April 2025, with an initial term of three years and an optional extension up to the 31st of March 2029. The total value, including the potential extension, amounts to £756,604,000. This procurement process, classified outside the scope of the Procurement Act 2023, emphasised no realistic alternative provider due to the specialised nature of the services required in the UKI region.

The awarding of this contract presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in healthcare-related services, particularly those with capabilities in delivering community or mental health services. The North East London NHS Foundation Trust was deemed the sole provider capable of fulfilling the contract's requirements, highlighting opportunities for partnerships or subcontracting arrangements with large NHS Foundation Trusts. Business growth can be pursued through collaborations that enhance service delivery, innovation in health services, and expanded capacity to meet the rigorous demands of such specialised healthcare provision. This represents a strategic opportunity for entities looking to establish or expand their footprint within the NHS framework, leveraging the significant contract value and the potential for future extensions and partnerships.
