## Summary

NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board has awarded a 12-month contract starting on 1st April 2026 for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services in Cheshire. This contract, valued at approximately £14,951,000, falls under the urgent circumstances provision of the Provider Selection Regime, specifically under the Health Care Services Regulations 2023, and is independent of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The decision, approved on 23rd April 2026, was necessitated by the need to ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential health services following a previous contracting process error. The procurement process was conducted without prior publication due to the urgency of service continuity, primarily serving the Cheshire and Merseyside NHS locations (UKD6, UKD74). The awarded provider is West Midlands Ambulance Service, with the process now complete, focusing on the health services category.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses that specialise in healthcare-related transport services, particularly those with the capability to handle both planned and unplanned patient transport. With the urgent nature of the contract award, businesses with a strong track record of delivering high-priority healthcare services and those experienced in dealing with renal dialysis or oncology treatments would find advantageous opportunities in this contract. Companies looking to expand in the health services industry, especially within the Cheshire region, will find this contract aligns well with their growth strategies, particularly those familiar with urgent service provisions and capable of ensuring continuous service delivery.
