## Summary

GA Trains Limited has awarded a contract for the support and maintenance of their ticket vending machines across their network to Scheidt & Bachmann (UK) Limited. The contract, titled "Ticket Vending Machines Support and Maintenance," falls under the services procurement category and was facilitated through a direct award due to the supplier's exclusive intellectual property rights. This process, listed as a complete status under the special regime for utilities, was officially documented on 10th June 2026, with the contract period starting from 1st July 2026 through to 30th June 2031, and the possibility of extensions until 2034. This engagement involves services such as life cycle management, ITSO services, and software services among others, with the contract allowing for potential adjustments in service levels corresponding to the decommissioning or acquisition of new vending machines. The procurement is relevant for locations within the United Kingdom, focusing on regions such as UKH1, UKH23, UKH3, UKI4, and UKI5.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for various small to medium enterprises (SMEs) engaged in maintenance and technology services, particularly those specialising in ticketing systems or related technical support fields. Firms with expertise in software service provision, managed hosting, or digital payment solutions such as P2PE, would find this long-term contract beneficial for business growth. By providing ongoing support and innovative solutions to GA Trains Limited, businesses can establish a strong presence in the utilities sector, leveraging the potential for contract extensions and modifications to maintain and upgrade the ticket vending machine infrastructure. This contract, with a gross value of £27,947,336, signals significant growth potential for the supplier involved, creating an important strategic relationship for both parties over the foreseeable future.

## Notice

GA Trains Limited (GATL) requires ongoing support and maintenance of their ticket vending machines (TVMs) at stations across its operating network. TVM's have been supplied and installed by Scheidt and Bachmann over time. The services to be provided under the agreement generally include but is not limited to: - Planned and reactive maintenance; - Life cycle management; - Oyster services; - ITSO services; - Managed application hosting; - P2PE solution; and - Software services. The contract permits amendment to quantities of the services should TVM's either be decommissioned or purchased during the term of the contract, including any renewal term.

### Procurement Information

Direct award is justified under Schedule 5 Clauses 5 and 7 of the Procurement Act as GATL have an existing contract with the supplier, and a change of supplier would result in receiving incompatible services as only Scheidt and Bachmann can provide support and maintenance of the TVMs due to intellectual property rights.
