## Summary

The public procurement process initiated by Diamond Light Source Limited is open for the design, manufacture, and delivery of a multiple infrared mirror system for the B22 beamline at the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. The tender, titled "DLSITT1102 - B22 Multiple InfraRed Mirror System," falls under the category of goods, specifically focusing on mirrors. Located in Didcot, the buyer, a central government public authority, has opened this opportunity through an open procedure. The tender is currently in the active stage with key dates including a submission deadline of 10th July 2026 and an award announcement expected by 20th July 2026.

This tender presents significant potential for businesses involved in engineering, manufacturing, and opto-mechanical system design, particularly those with experience in creating precision instruments for scientific applications. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with capabilities in producing high-quality technical systems and the capacity to adhere to exacting delivery standards are encouraged to compete. The opportunity aligns well with companies aiming to expand their reach in the scientific and engineering sectors, offering a gross contract value of £456,000. The awarding criteria will equally assess technical quality, experience, and price, making it ideal for those who can balance competitive pricing with high-level technical expertise.

## Notice

Located on the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond Light Source (DLS) is a leading-edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. DLS allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour of the world around us at the atomic and molecular level. To continue delivering the world-changing science that Diamond enables, the facility is being upgraded to Diamond-II, a co-ordinated programme of development that combines a major machine upgrade with new instruments and complementary improvements to optics, detectors, sample environment and delivery capabilities, and computing, as well as integrated and correlative methods. This will be transformative in speed and spatial resolution and will offer users streamlined access to enhanced instruments for life and physical sciences. Beamline B22 is the InfraRed (IR) beamline of Diamond that will utilize a dipole-quadrupole (DQ) magnet as synchrotron source in the new Diamond-II storage ring. The beamline operates 3 end stations, which provide IR and TeraHertz (THz) synchrotron radiation for microspectroscopy and nanospectroscopy experiments. The operational energy range of the beamline is 1 meV to 1 eV (i.e. wavelength range circa 1 m to 1 mm). The visible light from the Diamond-II source is also collected and used for optical alignment at B22. The scope of the contract is to design, manufacture and deliver an opto-mechanical multiple mirror system for the InfraRed (IR) beamline B22 of DLS to the performance specifications using a shared concept. The system will support 3 synchrotron IR mirrors (mirrors not part of this tender) designated as Mirror 2a, Mirror 2b and Mirror 2c (M2a, M2b and M2c). Each mirror will have motorised 3-point kinematic motion. The system will have an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) vacuum vessel, with support structures and fine adjustments for mechanical alignment. See specification for further details.
