Most of these vehicles are used to deliver the statutory waste and recycling and street cleansing functions of the Council and it is essential that the Council has a fit for purpose workshop to allow maintenance obligations to be met. The Spitfire Way site and workshop was the previous maintenance base for airport fire engines - it is, therefore, purpose built for HGV maintenance activities and already has vehicle maintenance pits present on site. However, some modernisation and enabling works are required before the workshop building can be put into service. The Council is, therefore, looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Supplier to carry out the Works. The Works will not result in a material change to the building and are considered to constitute permitted development by virtue of Schedule 2 Part 2 Class A (means of enclosure) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015.
