## Summary

The tender process conducted by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent involves the procurement of bespoke operational vehicles specially designed for usage in the Channel Tunnel. The procurement process has been completed, and the contract was directly awarded to Polaris Britain Ltd. The procurement falls under the "goods" category, specifically targeting specialist vehicles. This procedure utilised a "direct award" method, circumventing the competitive tendering process due to the bespoke nature of the vehicles required. The contract was finalized on 14th July 2026, with a contract performance period from 20th July 2026 to 19th July 2027. This procurement process assures Kent Police of an ergonomic and efficient solution for channel operations, based in the United Kingdom, specifically in the UKJ4 and UKJ45 regions.

This tender presents a notable opportunity for businesses involved in the manufacturing or supply of specialist vehicles, particularly those catering to public and safety organisations. Although this specific opportunity utilised a direct award due to technical reasons, it signals a demand for tailored solutions in emergency and security operations. Companies that offer products with advanced design adaptability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness stand to benefit from similar future opportunities. In this case, large-scale suppliers like Polaris Britain Ltd have been pertinent partners, showcasing potential growth for businesses capable of delivering highly specific governmental needs.

### Procurement Information

Bespoke vehicle arrangements will provide an ergonomic, fast, efficient and effective method of entering the service tunnel; ultimately to save life and prevent further harm. It is proposed to replace the current hatchback style vehicle with a bespoke utility vehicle. The current arrangement is the use of small hatchback style vehicles which are unsuited, not ergonomic and have limited versatility for BAU and the firearms response platform.
