## Summary

The Natural History Museum, based in London, is organising a procurement process currently in the planning stage, focused on securing a specialist contractor for their "Cold Water Services" project. This project falls under the works category and involves cleaning and relining water tanks, replacing aged pipework, and enhancing the cold water distribution system to improve efficiency and prevent leaks. The scheduled contract period runs from 3 August 2026 to 31 March 2027. The Museum anticipates the tender will go live in early July 2026. Businesses interested in this opportunity must complete a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) for access to the tender documents, and the process utilises an open procurement method.

The project presents significant opportunities for businesses in the construction and water services industry, particularly those experienced in museum construction and tank cleaning services. Companies that specialise in installing pipe systems and maintaining water systems will find this tender aligns well with their expertise. With a budget ceiling set at £180,000, this tender offers a substantial opportunity for businesses to showcase their capabilities in improving infrastructure resilience and operational efficiency. The open nature of the tender suggests broad opportunities for various firms to compete, particularly those eager to expand their portfolio within the prestigious cultural institution sector in the United Kingdom.

## Notice

The Museum requires a specialist contractor to clean and reline the water tanks to mitigate against debris/ rust/ scale build up in the tanks, reduce legionella risk and reduce risk of leaks and impact on Museum operations. The specialist contractor is also required to replace the existing aged pipework with new mild steel pipework that mitigates against scale build up in pipework. These works should also improve flow/efficiency of the cold water services distribution system and avoid water leaks via increased robustness of pipework materials and fittings. An NDA will also be required to be completed before access to the tender documents can be granted. The Museum anticipates this tender will go live in early July.
