## Summary

The Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust is initiating a procurement process for the provision of servicing and maintenance of laundry production equipment at the Nottingham City Hospital. This process is in the planning stage as of 1st July 2026, with a preliminary market engagement exercise scheduled to conclude on 31st July 2026. The procurement, classified under the repair and maintenance services of electrical and mechanical building installations, aims to ensure the reliable operation of laundry services with a focus on preventive and reactive maintenance. The procurement covers several regions, including UKF14, UKF15, UKF16, and UKF22, with a total contract value reaching £1.8 million gross. The contract period is set to start on 1st January 2027 and potentially extend until 31st December 2031, offering ongoing opportunities for qualified providers.

This tender offers significant business opportunities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises skilled in engineering services specialising in maintenance of similar equipment. Companies adept in integrating digital planned preventive maintenance systems will find this opportunity particularly suitable. By participating, businesses can secure long-term engagements and expand their service footprint across various regions within the UK. The focus on reducing equipment downtime and enhancing operational efficiency aligns with the growth strategies of innovative maintenance service providers who can offer high-quality engineering solutions. The opportunity for contract renewal adds to the attractiveness for businesses looking to establish sustainable partnerships with public health institutions.

## Notice

The Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (The Client) is conducting this Preliminary Market Engagement exercise in connection with the competitive procurement of Servicing and Maintenance of the Laundry Production Equipment at Nottingham City Hospital (The service). The purpose of the service is to reduce the likelihood of costly breakdown, ensure high quality wash results, optimize the Client's chemical usage and increase the life of the equipment, mitigating the requirement to purchase new assets due to lack of maintenance. Laundry production and, subsequently, the Client's organisation would be adversely affected in the event of any prolonged downtime. Therefore, an engineer must be available on site at any time the laundry is operating. Even a minor issue, such as a machine tripping out, resulting in equipment out of action, would then have a knock-on effect with volume of fresh linen available to the Client's wards, for example. Therefore, a Contractor is to deliver full on site engineering services to cover planned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance. The objective is to ensure the Laundry Production Equipment is supported by qualified engineers and is fit for the purpose of enabling the Client's staff to operate the equipment safely, efficiently and reliably. The Contractor will be required to utilize the Client's digital planned preventative maintenance (PPM) system to provide the service.
