## Summary

Bristol City Council is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for the installation of sustainable drainage and rainwater management systems. The initiative, titled "Soft Market Testing - Installation of Sustainable Drainage/Rainwater Management Systems," is set within the environmental services and flood-prevention industry categories. The project focuses on properties in the River Frome catchment area, including East Bristol and Lockleaze. Key dates include the deadline for expressing interest on 17th July 2026 at noon, with the contract period expected to run from 1st September 2026 to 31st March 2027. This procurement is a response to the council’s interest in testing market readiness to deliver services aimed at increasing flood resilience in selected areas.

Businesses specialising in environmental services, sustainable drainage systems, and hydraulic assessments have a visible opportunity to engage in this project to expand their operations. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSE) are particularly suitable given the procurement’s inclusivity approach. The project’s scope includes feasibility and technical assessments, engagement with residents, and the supply and installation of drainage components, making it appealing for firms ready to offer comprehensive, end-to-end solutions. This tender represents a substantial opportunity to establish a firm foothold in public sector projects focused on environmental resilience and urban infrastructure improvements.
