## Summary

The National Grid UK Limited is currently in the planning stage of a tender process, titled "Asbestos Consultancy and Removal Framework," targeting the services industry. This initiative is focused on delivering comprehensive asbestos-related services at operational and non-operational sites across England and Wales. The services are divided between the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) and National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) units. The procurement method is a selective process with a competitive flexible procedure, involving the setup of a framework agreement. Key dates include the expression of interest deadline on 31 July 2026, with an anticipated award period ending on 11 January 2027. The contract period is expected to run from 31 January 2027 to 30 January 2031, with potential extensions. The financial provision is substantial, with a planned gross value of £24 million.

This procurement opportunity presents significant potential for businesses specialising in various areas, including asbestos consultancy, removal, technical testing, and health and safety services. Companies experienced in undertaking risk assessments, asbestos surveys, and removal works, as well as those proficient in compliance auditing and technical consultancy, are well-placed to benefit. Engaging small to medium enterprises with expertise in environmental analysis, air monitoring, and licensed asbestos removal could enhance business growth and service diversification. The contract's framework nature, encompassing a four-year term with possible extensions, provides a stable platform for long-term client relationships and financial growth opportunities within the utilities sector.
