## Summary

The University of Strathclyde is initiating a procurement process for the "Supply, Delivery and Installation of Power Semiconductor Reliability Testing Equipment" as part of efforts to enhance the UK's semiconductor capabilities. This tender, which falls under the "Laboratory, optical and precision equipments" category, involves the acquisition of equipment such as climatic chambers and a thermal shock test chamber to support the upcoming National Centre for Advanced Semiconductor Packaging in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The procurement is at the tender stage with submissions due by 19 August 2026. The procurement method is an open procedure, and the contract is valued at £1,000,000 with the potential for renewal. Key criteria include quality and price, with a 60:40 weighting.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in manufacturing and installing precision laboratory equipment. Ideal candidates will possess a strong financial standing, with an average yearly turnover of at least £2,000,000, and experience in similar large-scale projects. Successful bidders will not only support the UK's technological advancements but also benefit from a secured contract term of 720 days, with potential extensions for maintenance and warranty services. The opportunity aligns well for businesses capable of meeting the rigorous industry standards and leveraging the UK’s emerging semiconductor landscape, providing a pathway for growth within the high-tech sector.

## Notice

Background The UK urgently requires a sovereign, open-access advanced semiconductor packaging capability to close a well-evidenced market failure. Today, UK innovators in photonics and power electronics rely on overseas Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities for scaling to volume packaging, which fragments the supply chain, extends lead times, increases Intellectual Property (IP) leakage risk, and exposes critical technologies to geopolitical disruption. The National Centre for Advanced Semiconductor Packaging (NCASP) is the missing link that converts research excellence into manufacturable products. NCASP is creating an integrated, industry-led scale-up facility that connects UK device design to domestic, high-volume packaging, test and metrology - reducing time-to-market and anchoring value onshore. Description This tender is to ensure that the devices packaged by the facility or our clients meet industry standards, the facility is planning to procure three reliability testing equipment/systems as follows: (1) Climatic chamber 1 for high temperature bias test, (2) Climatic chamber 2 for high temperature and high humidity bias test, (3) Thermal shock test chamber.
