## Summary

Cyson Cymru, acting on behalf of Newport City Council, has initiated an active tender process for the design and construction of a solar farm and battery energy storage system at the Docks Way Landfill Site in Newport. This tender falls under the industry category of construction and solar installation, with a particular focus on renewable energy solutions. It involves a contract for the turnkey design, installation, and commissioning of a solar farm with a 1.1MWp capacity and a 2MWh DC battery system. The procurement method is open competition, and the tender stage is currently active. Key dates include the tender submission deadline on 17th August 2026 and the enquiry period ending on 10th August 2026. The contract period is expected to start on 28th August 2026 and conclude on 2nd April 2029, with the construction being undertaken in 2026/7.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in engineering, procurement, and construction, particularly those with expertise in renewable energy technologies like solar power. The project’s scale, with a projected value of £2.7 million, is ideal for companies aiming to expand their portfolio in sustainable energy infrastructure. Companies with knowledge in large-scale electrical installations and who can deliver high-quality work focused on energy efficiency and storage solutions would be particularly well-suited to compete. As the tender is governed by Welsh devolved regulations, familiarity with local guidelines and incentives for renewable projects can provide a competitive edge.
