The Velipod is a specialist; containerised blood manufacturing facility designed specifically for the production of dried plasma. ### Procurement Information

The Authority intends make a direct award to Velico Medical for the provision of one Velipod Max Gold Package and associated maintenance in accordance with paragraph 6, Schedule 5 of the Procurement Act 2023 on the basis that competition is absent due to technical reasons. The Authority has concluded that, due to an absence of competition for technical reasons, only Velico Medical can provide the required integrated dried plasma manufacturing capability and there are no reasonable alternatives available. A direct award therefore represents the most effective, proportionate and lowest risk means of meeting the operational requirement whilst supporting the timely development of a sovereign MOD dried plasma production capability.
