## Summary

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is currently in the Tender stage of their procurement process for the "AF191 Purchase of Anaerobic Workstation," aimed at acquiring laboratory, optical, and precision equipment. This procurement, classified under the goods category, involves an open procurement method and is valued at £74,000. Key dates include an enquiry period ending on 31st July 2026 and a tender submission deadline on 5th August 2026. The equipment will be delivered to Liverpool before being forwarded to a partner lab in Malawi. This tender requires the successful supplier to handle installation, commissioning, and user training at the Malawi location, with all associated costs incorporated into their bid. The project falls under public authority – sub-central government and offers opportunities for businesses in Liverpool, UK and Malawi within the laboratory equipment sector.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment, particularly those with expertise in international logistics and on-site service provision. Companies that can demonstrate strong capabilities in equipment installation, user training, and technical support in international settings would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The requirement for services in Malawi additionally favours bidders with experience in working within sub-Saharan Africa. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, given the tender’s "below threshold - open competition" classification, which makes it accessible to a broader range of suppliers. The award criteria allocate 60% weight to quality and 40% to price, enabling businesses to showcase their comprehensive service offerings and product quality alongside competitive pricing.

## Notice

The purpose of this project is to procure an anaerobic workstation. The workstation will provide a controlled environment for the processing, incubation and examination of samples which must meet the technical requirements set out in the specification. The workstation shall be delivered to Liverpool. LSTM will then arrange onward shipment of the equipment on to the partner lab in Malawi which is the final destination. Although LSTM will be responsible for arranging the shipment from Liverpool to Malawi, the successful supplier will be required to provide installation, commissioning and user training at the partner laboratory in Malawi once the equipment has been delivered. Bidders should therefore include all costs associated with installation, commissioning, travel, accommodation and any other expenses required to complete these activities within their tender submission.
