## Summary

The NHS Essex Integrated Care Board is set to engage the market for its "WorkWell Service" intended for health and work support across Essex. This initiative falls under the health services industry category and aligns with the region's locality of Essex, including Southend and Thurrock. Currently, in the planning stage as of 23 July 2026, the initiative involves a Market Engagement event scheduled for 6 August 2026 from 10:00 to 11:30. Interested providers must express interest via the Atamis e-sourcing portal by 17:30 on 5 August 2026. The procurement process, expected to proceed under the Provider Selection Regime as opposed to the Public Contract Regulations 2015, involves a planned contract value of £5,000,000 over three years, starting November 2026.

This procurement presents a valuable opportunity for businesses in the health services sector to collaborate with the NHS to enhance work and health outcomes throughout Essex. The involvement of Local WorkWell Partnerships and Neighbourhood Work and Health Coaches indicates a focus on early intervention and community-level support, presenting growth potential for companies adept in delivering integrated health and employment services. Businesses demonstrating robust economic and financial health, alongside expertise in liaising with local government structures, will find this a fitting opportunity to expand their service offerings within the public sector. Participation in the upcoming virtual event will enable potential providers to understand better the requirements and expectations, thereby positioning themselves strategically in the forthcoming competitive process.

The Authority provides health and care to 1.9 million residents covering the geographical footprint of Essex, including Southend and Thurrock.

The commissioning model will comprise of Local WorkWell Partnerships and a single Essex-wide WorkWell Neighbourhood Work and Health Coach Service, with delivery designed around local government reorganisation footprints and strengthened access at key intervention points, including GP surgeries where Fit Notes are commonly created and maintained.

The programme expects to include a WorkWell Assistance Programme that, in combination with Neighbourhood Work and Health Coaches, supports early intervention.
