## Summary

The NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board recently awarded a contract to New Medical Systems Ltd, trading as Newmedica, for delivering routine secondary care services focusing on ophthalmology and diagnostics. This decision, marked under a Provider Selection Regime and not governed by Public Contracts Regulations 2015, was confirmed on 30th July 2026. Using a limited procurement method without prior competition, the contract runs from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027, with delivery locations in the regions of UKK11 and UKK12 and a tender classification under ophthalmologist services.

The awarded contract, emphasising patient choice, provides significant opportunities for specialised healthcare providers interested in partnering with the public sector. Businesses proficient in secondary and elective care services, especially within the ophthalmology sector, are particularly well-suited to explore collaborative ventures. As the service is based on set criteria focusing on quality rather than price, it provides a viable avenue for small to medium enterprises looking to expand within the healthcare service sector by delivering innovative solutions that align with the NHS's quality-focused agenda.
