## Summary

South Kesteven District Council, located in Grantham, UK, is initiating a procurement process under the planning stage for the installation of ultra-rapid electric vehicle charge points. This tender, identified as "SKDC-1471," falls under the industry category of electrical work, specifically chargers and installation, and is aimed at enhancing the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles throughout the district. The process involves initial market research and a soft market testing exercise inviting suppliers to provide insights until the deadline on 1st September 2026. The Council, collaborating with Welland Procurement as the procuring entity, aims to leverage this information to inform its procurement strategy, with potential contract periods commencing on 31st October 2026.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) involved in electrical installations and green technologies. By engaging in the competitive process, businesses can contribute to the council's goal of enhancing renewable energy use and developing sustainable infrastructure. Companies with the capability to supply and install rapid and ultra-rapid charge points could benefit from participation, potentially influencing the council's choice of delivery models and procurement approaches. The opportunity fosters business growth by aligning with the council's long-term energy strategy and commitment to modernising services for residents and visitors.

In particular, the Council are looking to respondents to: 1. Share learning on a range of delivery solutions 2. Share learning on different procurement approaches 3. South Kesteven District Council is currently looking at options for its provision of rapid/ ultra-rapid charging infrastructure for electric vehicles across the district and to implement the best model which provides a sustainable and modernised service to meet the needs of our residents. This will align with the Council's ambitions to drive partnership opportunities to support and encourage renewable energy use in the district and unlock green growth, and ensure South Kesteven has a high-quality network of electric vehicle charging points that meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.
