## Summary

The procurement process for the "Optometry Local Enhanced Services 2026/27 Rotherham" has been completed by the NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, acting as the contracting authority. The processes fall under the classification of optician services within the healthcare sector and are specifically designed to enhance General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) in Rotherham. The contract has been awarded to Staples Opticians and covers the period from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027. This award was made via a limited procurement method, without prior publication, under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, outside the scope of the Public Contract Regulations 2015. The contract's value is contingent on patient activity, and the procurement stage reflects an award status. The Primary Care Delivery Group confirmed no conflicts of interest in this award.

This tender offers potential growth for businesses that are experienced in ophthalmic and optometry services, especially those capable of integrating local enhanced services into standard GOS contracts. Although Staples Opticians has been awarded the contract, there is scope for additional providers in these kinds of local enhancement contracts, provided they meet the necessary criteria and hold a GOS contract. This opportunity primarily suits businesses in the healthcare services industry, particularly smaller optometric practices capable of delivering specialized services alongside standard care, and interested in expanding their reach within the Rotherham area.

## Notice

The provider is commissioned to deliver locally enhanced services for the Rotherham population.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

These contracts are awarded to an existing group of providers. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (Optometrists) is because they are required to hold a General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) contract and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the (GOS) contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount. For this reason not every Optometrist delivers every LCS.

The contract has been awarded following the direst award process B.

The value of the contract is unknown as it is based on patient activity..

The contract will run from 01/04/2026 to 31/03/2027.

This is an existing contract with an existing provider. Additional information: The contract value is unknown. The provider is paid in line with the relevant unit prices for the activity delivered in accordance with the nationally mandated NHS Payment Scheme.

### Procurement Information

This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) confirmation of contract award. The contract has
been awarded under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations
2023. For the avoidance of doubt , the provisions of the Public Contract Regulations 2015
do not apply to this award.
