## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership - Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is managing the procurement process for the BIA/S12 Assessments contract under the Provider Selection Regime Wales (PSR Wales). This process is in the award stage, and the notice for intention to award was published on 5th August 2026. The contract, awaiting formal award, involves hospital and related services within the Welsh region of UKL24. The procurement method used is a direct award without prior publication under the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025, and the standstill period for representations from providers is open until 14th August 2026.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses that specialise in health assessments, particularly those with expertise in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DoLS statutory guidance. Suitable businesses include those capable of providing qualified assessors for Best Interests and Mental Health evaluations. Companies with experience in delivering high-quality, collaborative, and socially responsible healthcare services, while addressing health inequalities, are well-positioned to benefit. With a total contract value of £89,280 and regular service provisions required predominately across hospitals in Powys and nearby NHS Trusts, this tender offers an opportunity for strategic growth for businesses in the healthcare services sector.
