## Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process concerning the supply of cryopreservation-grade Dimethyl Sulphoxide (DMSO) products. This initiative is pertinent to the healthcare industry, specifically targeting laboratory reagents, pharmaceutical products, and medical consumables. Located in the United Kingdom, NHSBT is a public authority within the central government, operating specialist laboratories across Barnsley, Birmingham, Filton, Oxford, and Southampton. The preliminary market engagement is scheduled from 24 August 2026 to 4 September 2026, with expressions of interest due by 21 August 2026. This engagement aims to explore market capabilities, innovation opportunities, and product specifications to inform future procurement strategies.

Suppliers capable of providing sterile, pyrogen-free DMSO with a minimum purity of 99.9%, along with robust business continuity and supply chain resilience, will be well-positioned to benefit. The procurement process champions innovation and seeks comprehensive supply solutions, making it ideal for businesses that are adept in quality manufacturing and service provision within the healthcare sector. Successful participation could pave the way for future collaborations with NHSBT and potentially other contracting authorities.
