## Summary

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited has initiated a competitive procurement process for the "W&W D&P and IPC Maintenance and Mentoring Support" project, aimed at support and maintenance of electrical distribution systems on the Great Western and Wales routes. This tender occupies the "services" procurement category and falls under electrical distribution repair and maintenance. It is currently in the tender stage, with expressions of interest due by 13 August 2026, and is conducted as a selective procurement using a competitive flexible procedure. The total contract value is £8.1 million gross, covering both the Western and Welsh lots, each active and valued individually. The projects are located in the United Kingdom, with contract work expected to start on 1 April 2027 and potentially extend until March 2030. Network Rail aims to finalise the award by 12 January 2027, following a structured evaluation process.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses experienced in electrical system maintenance and mentoring support, particularly those registered on the Rail Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) under specific codes. Companies with competencies in handling transformers, substations, high-voltage cabling, trackside equipment maintenance, and those able to act swiftly during critical incidents would be well-suited for this contract. As the same supplier may be awarded both lots, organisations with capacity and resources to manage large-scale projects across multiple locations will find this tender ideal for business growth. Engaging in this contract could enhance a company's portfolio within central government rail infrastructure projects.

## Notice

Network Rail have electrified the Great Western route with two major programmes; Crossrail West and Great Western Electrification Programme. These two programmes of work have both constructed new substation assets with associated equipment that the routes need to maintain. Services include: * Maintenance and faulting of the distribution equipment. * Maintenance and faulting of the IPC and SCADA systems. * Staff training and mentorship support. * 24/7 telephone technical support. * Rapid fault response. In the event of a larger incident (such as ATF failures and fires), the Contractor shall make safe only to allow restoration of full passenger service. Any further rectification works required shall be covered by a separate contract order form under the framework. For this type of work, Network Rail reserves the right to approach the open market and conduct a competitive procurement process outside the Framework.
