## Summary

Defence Equipment and Support, part of the UK Ministry of Defence, procured post-design services and spares support for the in-service Maritime Modular Platform. The platform supports the UK MOD Small Boat Aerial Delivery system, enabling airborne transport of different loads, including small marine craft, into a maritime environment. The requirement covers continuing technical support for the platform, including post-design services, spares and support for new loads and operational demands. It is primarily a service requirement, with associated goods, covering aircraft equipment and repair and maintenance services. The work supports the C-17 Command Support & Airborne Equipment Delivery Team and the wider UK defence equipment programme.

The procurement is complete and the contract was awarded by direct award to Babcock Integrated Technology Ltd. The award value is £3,037,000 excluding VAT, or £3,644,400 including VAT. The contract period is from 1 March 2027 to 31 March 2029, with two additional two-year extension options and a maximum end date of 31 March 2033. The initial two-year period is estimated at £1,037,000 excluding VAT; each extension option is estimated at £1,000,000 excluding VAT. The award was made without prior tender publication because Babcock holds intellectual property and other exclusive rights required for the requirement. Contract signature is scheduled for 12 February 2027.

This procurement indicates a specialist requirement for suppliers able to support military maritime and airborne equipment through its in-service life. A credible competitor would need post-design engineering capability, spares support and the technical expertise to assess new loads and operational demands. Access to, or ownership of, the relevant intellectual property, technical documentation and exclusive rights is central to the requirement. The selected supplier is associated with the RA5101 Design Organisation endorsed by the Military Aviation Authority and holds the patent for the Maritime Modular Platform. Businesses targeting comparable work for Defence Equipment and Support would therefore need demonstrable defence design authority credentials, strong technical assurance, equipment maintenance capability and the rights or permissions needed to work on the platform.
