## Summary

Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust intends to buy vehicle conversion services for Iveco Daily 7,200kg Chassis Cab vehicles. The work is for National Resilience Equipment Vehicles, involving the conversion of specialist vehicles for ambulance service use. NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, will manage the procurement for the Trust. Delivery is expected in Wales. The requirement is classified as vehicle conversion and reconditioning services (CPV 50117000). The initial requirement covers three vehicles, with provision for further conversions during the contract. This is a specialist vehicle engineering and conversion service rather than a purchase of standard vehicles or general fleet maintenance.

This procurement is at the planning stage: the buyer has announced its intention to procure, but it is not yet an invitation to tender. The expected route is a further competition under Crown Commercial Service Framework RM6244, Purchase of Standard and Specialist Vehicles, Lot 10 for conversion of bespoke and specialist vehicles. The buyer expects the next notice to be published on 25 August 2026, with the contract expected to start on 9 November 2026 and run to 8 November 2029. Renewal could extend the maximum period to 8 November 2030. The estimated value is £1,050,000 excluding VAT, or £1,260,000 including VAT. Initial delivery depends on Welsh Government funding and successful completion of the first build.

This will suit businesses with established capability in converting and reconditioning heavy chassis-cab vehicles into specialist operational vehicles, particularly suppliers experienced with Iveco Daily platforms and bespoke vehicle builds. Relevant strengths are likely to include vehicle design, fabrication, electrical and mechanical integration, specialist equipment installation, testing, commissioning and aftercare. Suppliers should be able to manage an initial small production run while supporting additional conversions over the contract life. Experience delivering resilient, safety-critical or public-service vehicles would be valuable, as would robust quality assurance, build documentation and compliance processes. The buyer has indicated that the opportunity is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, and it will be competed among suppliers on the relevant specialist-vehicle framework.
