## Summary

The Ministry of Defence intends to procure heavy roadside recovery services across the United Kingdom and the European public road network. The service will support current and emerging heavy military vehicle fleets, including Boxer, Boxer RCH155 and its variants, FUCHS, Heavy Protected Mobility vehicles, the M3 Amphibious Rig, MAN 10×10 bridging variants, Mastiff, Ridgeback and Wolfhound. This is a specialist vehicle breakdown and recovery requirement, covering heavy wheeled vehicles and related recovery support. The work is categorised as services, specifically commercial vehicle and motor vehicle breakdown and recovery. Delivery will take place across public roads in the UK and Europe, supporting the Ministry of Defence’s operational fleet requirements.

This procurement is at the planning stage: the Ministry of Defence has stated an intention to procure and has not yet invited tenders. It expects to use an above-threshold open procedure. The buyer’s indicative date for the next notice is 1 December 2026. The planned procurement comprises one lot, with an estimated value of £17.5 million excluding VAT and £21 million including VAT. The planned contract period is 31 March 2027 to 30 March 2034, with a possible extension to 30 March 2037 and renewal rights. The lot is identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community or social enterprises. Future tender documents will provide full vehicle specifications and recovery details.

The requirement is likely to suit established vehicle recovery operators with the specialist equipment, trained personnel and operational capacity to recover heavy military and protected vehicles across a geographically extensive road network. Relevant experience in heavy commercial vehicle recovery, fleet support, roadside response and cross-border or European operations would be valuable. Suppliers should prepare to demonstrate that they can support the listed vehicle types and respond reliably across the UK and European public road network. The buyer intends to provide an opportunity to view the vehicles at an Industry Day, although its location and date are to be confirmed. SMEs and voluntary, community or social enterprises are expressly considered suitable for the planned lot.
