The work is a health service focused on gathering evidence from people who are currently experiencing, or have experienced within the previous three years, gambling-related harm. Participants may have gambled themselves or may be family members or friends affected by another person’s gambling, and may or may not have received formal treatment or support. The service will organise feedback forums and provide the Council’s Public Health team with evidence for a Gambling Harms Needs Assessment. The findings will help the Council understand the scale and impact of gambling-related harm and develop a coordinated local prevention response. The planned procurement concerns one service requirement. This procurement is at the planning stage: West Sussex County Council has set out an intention to procure, but the procurement procedure has not started and there is no invitation to tender. The Council expects to use a tender process for health services, with one planned requirement and an estimated value of £22,000. The buyer’s indicative date for the next notice is 1 October 2026. As part of market engagement, the Council is asking potential providers to request a draft specification and complete a market engagement questionnaire. Responses will inform the future specification. The Council states that this engagement is not a call for expressions of interest or a commencement of procurement. Interested providers can also register on its e-tendering portal to receive information about future requirements. The planned service should suit organisations experienced in engaging people with direct or indirect lived experience of gambling-related harm. Relevant providers are likely to be able to design and facilitate safe, inclusive feedback forums; recruit and support participants with varied experiences; and handle sensitive discussions involving individuals, family members and friends. Useful preparation would include demonstrating experience in community engagement, qualitative research, public health needs assessment or gambling-harm prevention, together with the ability to produce clear evidence and practical findings for a local authority. Providers should be ready to work with people who have and have not used formal treatment or support. The Council is seeking market insight now to shape the specification, so this stage is suited to organisations that can contribute informed feedback before any future competition. ## Notice West Sussex County Council is organising Market Engagement for the requirement of providing a Gambling Lived Experience Action Group. ### Lot Information Lot 1 This project will deliver feedback forums with individuals living in West Sussex who are currently experiencing or have recently experienced (within the past three years), gambling-related harm. This includes people who have gambled themselves, as well as family members or friends affected by someone else's gambling. Participants may or may not have received formal treatment or support. These forums will provide information to West Sussex County Council (WSCC) Public Health for a Gambling Harms Needs Assessment. They will help to understand the scale and impact of gambling-related harm and inform the development of a coordinated local prevention response.
