## Summary

The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust intends to commission land rehabilitation works to remove and treat Rhododendron ponticum across woodland, agricultural and ornamental garden habitats on the Isle of Gigha. The work covers 16.6 hectares and is intended to improve woodland spaces, support natural regeneration and allow native species to thrive. Delivery will take place on the Isle of Gigha, Argyll, Scotland. The buyer is the Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust, which is also identified as a central purchasing body. The works fall within land rehabilitation and environmental protection, and will need to address invasive non-native species while protecting existing habitats and their ecological value.

This procurement is at the planning stage: the buyer has announced an intention to procure, but has not issued an invitation to tender. The planned procurement has one lot and an estimated total value of £138,000. The buyer expects the next notice to be published on 17 August 2026. The procurement is for works and is covered by the Government Procurement Agreement. The brief refers to treatment methods and timelines advised by NatureScot and based on Forestry and Land Scotland guidance. The planned approach includes environmentally sensitive working and managing risks associated with activities during ecologically sensitive periods, including bird nesting season.

This work is likely to suit contractors experienced in invasive plant control, habitat management, woodland restoration and land rehabilitation. Suppliers should be able to remove and treat Rhododendron ponticum across a substantial, varied site, including woodland, agricultural land and ornamental gardens. Practical experience of working in environmentally sensitive habitats will be important, particularly where existing vegetation and wildlife must be protected. Contractors should be prepared to follow NatureScot advice on treatment methods and timings, and apply methods informed by Forestry and Land Scotland guidance. Businesses with the equipment, workforce and planning capability to coordinate works across the Isle of Gigha may be well placed to prepare.
