## Summary

Nuclear Waste Services Limited procured a services framework call-off for a Bulk Combustible Bulk Order on behalf of organisations that hold, or may later enter into, Waste Services Contracts with NWS. The requirement covers lifecycle management, receipt of consignments, unloading and pre-treatment of waste for incineration and recycling, including segregation, size reduction and cable stripping. It also includes incineration, disposal of secondary waste at a suitably permitted facility, technical support, project close-out and lessons from experience. The waste services include collection, transport, storage, packaging, treatment and disposal of radioactive waste. Delivery is in the United Kingdom. The buyer is based at Calderbridge, Seascale, and the selected supplier is Veolia ES (UK) Limited, a large waste-services business.

This procurement has been awarded through a competitive selective framework call-off under the Treatment & Conditioning Services Framework (2026–2030), using the award-under-framework method. The single lot is complete and Veolia ES (UK) Limited was selected on 19 August 2026. The award value is £14,100,000 excluding tax and £16,920,000 including tax. The contract period runs from 3 September 2026 to 2 September 2030. The standstill period ends on 1 September 2026, with signature scheduled for 2 September 2026. The award is above the relevant threshold. The arrangement is for services involving radioactive-waste collection, transport, storage, packaging, treatment and disposal, with one supplier awarded the lot. The call-off is available to NWS customers across the public and private sectors within the stated customer categories.

This award demonstrates substantial demand from Nuclear Waste Services for integrated radioactive-waste treatment and conditioning rather than a single disposal activity. A credible future competitor would need to manage the full service lifecycle, receive and handle consignments safely, and provide pre-treatment such as segregation, size reduction and cable stripping. It would also need reliable incineration and recycling capability, arrangements with suitably permitted facilities for all secondary waste, and the technical resources to support customers through project close-out and lessons-from-experience activities. Relevant businesses are likely to be established waste-treatment operators with the operational capacity, regulatory permissions, specialist equipment, transport and storage arrangements, and technical assurance systems needed to manage radioactive waste across the United Kingdom for a major public-sector customer.
