## Summary

Nuclear Waste Services Limited is buying radioactive waste treatment and related services through a bagged combustible bulk order for its customers. The scope covers lifecycle management, receiving consignments, unloading waste, incinerating it, disposing of secondary waste at a suitably permitted facility, returning containers to schedule, technical support, project close-out and lessons from experience. The services include radioactive waste collection, packaging, storage, transport, treatment and disposal. Delivery is in the United Kingdom. Customers may include private-sector organisations and a wide range of public-sector bodies that hold, or may later enter into, waste services contracts with Nuclear Waste Services, including government bodies, NHS organisations, educational establishments, councils, charities and housing associations.

This procurement has been awarded under the Treatment & Conditioning Services Framework using a competitive selective framework call-off. It is complete and has one completed lot. The award was made on 19 August 2026 to Veolia ES (UK) Limited. The awarded value is £2,300,000 excluding VAT, or £2,760,000 including VAT. The contract period runs from 3 September 2026 to 2 September 2030. A standstill period ends on 1 September 2026, with contract signature scheduled for 2 September 2026. The evaluation was competitive, although the published outcome does not set out the individual quality, technical or price weightings. Nuclear Waste Services Limited procured the requirement on behalf of its customers.

This award indicates sustained demand for an integrated radioactive-waste service rather than a single disposal activity. Suppliers seeking comparable work would need credible capability across consignment receipt, unloading, transport, packaging, storage, treatment by incineration and disposal of secondary waste through a suitably permitted facility. They would also need to manage container returns against schedules, provide technical support, control the service lifecycle and complete projects with lessons captured. The requirement suits organisations able to coordinate regulated waste operations for Nuclear Waste Services and its broad customer base, including public-sector and private-sector waste service users. Experience delivering end-to-end radioactive-waste services, maintaining operational continuity and meeting facility and consignment requirements would strengthen a future competitive proposition.
