## Summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is planning to procure ongoing maintenance services for three medical trailers: two mobile breast screening trailers and one mobile MRI trailer. The requirement covers periodic minor and major servicing, MOT testing, responsive repairs and warranty repairs, including labour, travel and materials, except for normal wear and tear, Trust damage and patient-caused damage. Work includes generators, water and plumbing systems, lighting, alarms, telematics, hydraulics, air conditioning and chillers, electrical installations, fire and CCTV systems, patient lifts, chassis, brakes, suspension, steering, bodywork and external equipment. Major servicing also includes fluid and filter changes, electrical retesting, refrigerant engineering, replacement fire extinguishers and rolling-road brake testing. The services are for the Trust’s operations in the United Kingdom.

This procurement is at the planning stage: the Trust has stated an intention to procure, but has not issued an invitation to tender. It expects to use an open procedure under the Procurement Act 2023. The estimated total value is £219,720 excluding VAT, or £263,664 including VAT. There is one planned lot, with an anticipated contract period from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2037. The Trust expects the next notice on 12 October 2026. It has scheduled preliminary market engagement, asking interested organisations to introduce themselves and explain their relevant experience and suitability by 18 September 2026. The requirement is above the applicable threshold and the lot is identified as suitable for SMEs.

This will suit specialist vehicle maintenance providers with the facilities, engineers and supply-chain capability to service medical trailers and their integrated clinical-support systems. Strong candidates are likely to cover mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, refrigeration, air-conditioning, generator, chassis, braking and bodywork disciplines, either in-house or through reliable subcontractors. Experience maintaining mobile breast screening or mobile MRI trailers is particularly relevant, as is the ability to deliver planned servicing, MOT testing, responsive repairs and warranty work across complex equipment. Providers should be able to manage statutory and safety-related inspections, including LOLER testing, F-Gas leak testing, electrical certification and VOSA-standard chassis checks. The buyer is specifically looking for organisations able to demonstrate recent work for other health organisations, making healthcare-sector references and evidence of comparable delivery important.
