## Summary

Diamond Light Source Limited is procuring services to design and deliver a new corporate website for Diamond Light Source, replacing its approximately 15-year-old website and reshaping its content and structure. The work covers website design services, with the new site intended to support user access to scientific facilities, promote Diamond’s research and impact, generate industry and collaboration leads, support recruitment, and strengthen its profile as a research and innovation centre. The requirement includes developing concise, strategically targeted content and addressing the organisation’s communications objectives. Diamond Light Source operates from the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, and the delivery location is Didcot, Oxfordshire. The procurement is classified as world wide web site design services.

The procurement has reached tender: Diamond Light Source Limited invited offers through an open procedure. It is a single-lot services contract with an estimated value of £90,000 excluding VAT, or £108,000 including VAT. Tenders had to be submitted by 28 September 2026 at 12:00 noon. Electronic submission was allowed in English, with submissions requested by email and hard copy to Diamond Procurement, Diamond House, Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Didcot, Oxfordshire OX11 0DE. The intended contract period is 2 November 2026 to 20 December 2027, and the award decision was due by 21 October 2026 at 23:59. Evaluation is based on price at 30% and quality at 70%, covering experience, technical quality, user experience and design approach, resources and capacity, and content migration.

This opportunity suits a web design and digital delivery supplier able to create a strategic corporate website for a complex science, engineering and innovation organisation. Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate relevant sector and staff experience, sound technical delivery, and a well-developed user experience and design approach. The requirement also favours suppliers with credible plans for managing resources, capacity and delivery, alongside experience of migrating substantial existing content, including wiki-based material. The evaluation gives significant emphasis to quality, so suppliers should be prepared to explain both their proposed approach and the expertise of the team delivering it. The opportunity is identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, making it relevant to specialist digital agencies as well as larger website and transformation providers.

## Notice

Located on the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond Light Source (DLS) is a leading-edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. DLS allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour of the world around us at the atomic and molecular level. To continue delivering the world-changing science that Diamond enables, the facility is being upgraded to Diamond-II, a co-ordinated programme of development that combines a major machine upgrade with new instruments and complementary improvements to optics, detectors, sample environment and delivery capabilities, and computing, as well as integrated and correlative methods. Our current corporate website, https://www.diamond.ac.uk/, is a critical channel for: * Communicating scientific capability and impact and promoting science to broader audiences * Supporting user-centric operations, including access to beamlines and facilities * Engaging industry partners and collaborators, and generating leads for the Industrial Liaison Office * Supporting recruitment into key roles, attracting the best candidates The site was launched nearly 15 years ago and, whilst the CMS (Magnolia-CMS) has received regular technical upgrades and is up to date with the latest security and functionality features, it has become a sprawling information repository for everything Diamond does. Our vision is to develop a new corporate website from the ground up, with new, more concise and more strategically targeted content. The new website will primarily focus on four strategic communications objectives, as outlined in the Diamond Communications and Engagement Strategy: * Supporting user-centric operations. * Generating leads for the Industrial Liaison Office. * Supporting recruitment. * Increasing the awareness and positive perception of Diamond as a world-class hub for cutting-edge research and innovation. See specification forfurther details.
