## Summary

National Grid UK Limited is seeking a single supplier to provide, license and support enterprise geospatial maps and data for its UK operations. The requirement covers premium and open datasets, such as Ordnance Survey, natural resources and environmental information, delivered electronically through a suitable software platform. The service is intended to replace separate, project-led purchasing across business units with centrally managed access, governance and reuse. It will provide one view of geospatial data that is owned, licensed, open or stored, while improving coverage, quality, availability and control. The work is a combination of geospatial information services, software platform provision, data licensing and technical support, delivered across the United Kingdom.

The process has reached tender: National Grid invited offers through a two-round competitive flexible procedure, using selective competition. Suppliers first undergo pre-qualification, after which up to five candidates are invited to tender. Expressions of interest were due by 5 October 2026 at 23:59, and enquiries by 30 September 2026 at 23:59. The invitation-to-tender round ran from 2 to 30 November 2026, with evaluation, demonstrations and moderation from 8 December 2026 to 15 January 2027, followed by negotiation with up to three suppliers. Award was scheduled for 10 March 2027. The recorded procurement value is £0. The contract runs from 10 March 2027 to 9 March 2030, with annual extensions of up to two years. Evaluation is functional quality 40%, technical quality 30% and commercial pricing 30%.

This opportunity suits suppliers that combine geospatial data expertise with software platform delivery and ongoing support. Strong candidates will be able to supply and license multiple premium and open datasets, provide reliable electronic access, and demonstrate robust system functionality, security and technical capability. The requirement is suited to organisations experienced in consolidating fragmented GIS data, managing enterprise-wide licensing and supporting reuse across business units. Suppliers must show sufficient technical, financial and legal capacity, meet National Grid’s due-diligence requirements and accept a non-disclosure agreement. Participation requires completion of National Grid’s SAP Ariba onboarding process before joining the competition. The scale and centralised nature of the requirement favour providers able to support a large utility organisation across the UK and manage varied data sources over a multi-year service.

## Notice

National Grid currently procures geospatial (GIS) data independently across Business Units, driven by project specific needs. This decentralized approach has led to duplication of datasets, inconsistent coverage, variable quality, and limited reuse. A single view is required of what geospatial data is owned, licensed, open, and stored. The project supports National Grid's ambition to move to enterprise wide data reuse, stronger governance, and improved commercial outcomes; a single tool that provides a variety of datasets such as ordnance survey, natural resources, environmental etc. * Objectives: * Establish a single, enterprise-wide procurement and governance model for all geospatial (GIS) data across NG Group, UK. * Replace fragmented, project-led data purchasing with standardized, centrally managed access. * Eliminate duplication, inconsistent coverage, and limited reuse caused by historic Business Unit-led procurement. * Improve visibility, control, and availability of both licensed/premium and open geospatial datasets. * Enable cost reduction and greater value through enterprise-wide reuse and optimized licensing. * Successful supplier will supply, license, and support core geospatial datasets and * Enable access to both premium and open datasets. The maps and data should be provided through electronic means, via a suitable software platform.
