## Summary

The Animal and Plant Health Agency intends to procure specialist Good Practice training services for its animal health and animal science research and product work. The requirement covers interactive workshops using discussion, practical exercises, examples and realistic scenarios, with content tailored to APHA’s needs. Courses listed include Introduction to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), GLP refresher training, GLP training for test facility managers, GLP updates for study directors and principal investigators, GLP training for archivists, and veterinary Good Clinical Practice (GCPv) refresher training. It also includes Introduction to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), GMP refresher training and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) refresher training. Delivery is across the United Kingdom, with certificates of attendance required for APHA participants.

This procurement is at the planning stage: APHA has stated its intention to procure and has not yet invited tenders. The planned competition is expected to use an open procedure and is divided into two related lots: Lot 1 for GLP and GCPv training, and Lot 2 for GMP and GDP training. The published value is £152,500 excluding VAT, or £183,000 including VAT. The planned contract period is 18 December 2026 to 17 December 2029, with an extension possible until 17 December 2031. APHA expects to publish the next notice by 25 September 2026. It is seeking market feedback by 18 September 2026, including suppliers’ delivery models, relevant experience, capacity, consortium arrangements and barriers to bidding.

The requirement is likely to suit training providers specialising in regulated life-sciences, laboratory, clinical, manufacturing or distribution environments, particularly those able to tailor courses to animal health and scientific research. Relevant suppliers should be prepared to demonstrate experience and expertise in GLP, veterinary GCP, GMP and GDP, including refresher and role-specific training. APHA is testing whether providers can deliver both virtual and face-to-face sessions for each lot, so organisations with flexible delivery capability may be well placed. The work may also suit small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community or social enterprises. Providers considering consortium or subcontracting arrangements should be able to show established, effective relationships and sufficient capacity to deliver the required course range.

## Notice

APHA requires a supplier to deliver a range of Good Practice training via interactive workshops, where participants are active in both discussion and practice of the techniques/skills that are being explored. The inclusion of examples/scenarios are also requested to make learning as 'real life' as possible. Our evaluation of training has shown that our learners respond better to this blended approach. Training courses are to be tailored to animal health and animal scientist research and product needs, with the course content being designed to be relevant to these specific areas of work. All APHA attendees will require a certificate of attendance following the completion of each course. This requirement will need to be in place by December 2026. The tender will include two distinct, but related Lots concerning GxP Quality Training Courses, Lot 1 - GLP and GCPv Training Courses Lot 2 - GMP and GDP Training Courses Training courses required are: * Introduction to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) * GLP Refresher * GLP Outline for Test Facility Managers * GLP Update for Study Directors and Principal Investigators * GLP Refresher Training - Archivist * Good Clinical Practice veterinary (GCPv) Refresher * Introduction to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) * GMP Refresher * Good Distribution Practice (GDP) Refresher
