## Summary

The Natural History Museum is planning to appoint an AV hardware integrator for the fit-out of four major public galleries in its Grade I listed building in London. The service will cover exhibitions, interactives and gallery fit-out lighting, providing a robust and consistent audiovisual hardware approach across the Western Galleries. The appointed specialist will work with the museum’s Exhibition Fit Out team and coordinate with the design and build teams and the base-build refurbishment. This forms part of Phase 2 of the NHM150 Programme, which is transforming the Western Galleries through refurbishment and complete gallery fit-out. The procurement is for services, including AV integration consultancy and museum-exhibition fit-out support.

This procurement is at the planning stage: the museum has announced its intention to procure and there is no invitation to tender at this stage. The expected contract period is 4 January 2027 to 3 January 2032. The estimated value is £290,000 excluding VAT, or £348,000 including VAT. The work is planned as a single lot, with the procurement status recorded as planning. The buyer expects the next notice to be published on 15 September 2026. As part of preliminary market engagement, potential bidders are being asked to complete a short survey covering their experience and capacity and to comment on elements of the proposed tender requirements; the survey is scheduled to close at 5pm on 9 September 2026.

This will suit established AV hardware integration consultancies and specialists with experience delivering audiovisual systems for museum galleries, exhibitions, interactives and gallery lighting. Relevant suppliers should be able to develop and coordinate a consistent hardware approach across four major galleries, work effectively with design-and-build teams, and manage interfaces with a major refurbishment and fit-out programme. The museum is looking for robust solutions grounded in sustainability and accessibility, so bidders should be ready to demonstrate practical approaches in both areas. Businesses with the capacity to support a long, multi-gallery programme and experience working in complex or heritage buildings will be well placed to prepare for the future tender.
