## Summary

Worcestershire County Council’s Public Health Team is exploring research services to assess the extent of gambling-related harm across Worcestershire and identify how that harm could be reduced or prevented. The anticipated work would support development of a gambling needs assessment, drawing on evidence from health services, local authority services and voluntary, community and social enterprise services. It falls within social research, health and social work services, and wider research services. Delivery is intended to cover Worcestershire. The council is particularly interested in organisations with experience of researching gambling-related harms and working with statutory and voluntary-sector services. Suppliers with knowledge of gambling-related harm, needs assessments, prevention or treatment pathways should be well placed to contribute. Experience bringing together qualitative and quantitative evidence, engaging service providers and communities, and turning findings into practical recommendations would be useful preparation for a later requirement. Worcestershire-based organisations are expressly encouraged to participate, although the stated interest also extends to capable providers elsewhere with relevant research and partnership experience. The immediate value is an opportunity to influence the shape of the future specification, rather than to bid for work now.

The levy provides increased, independent and sustainable funding for the research, prevention and treatment of gambling-related harms across Great Britain. We would like feedback from providers who have experience in conducting research with VCS and statutory organisations and services. We are keen to hear from VCSEs, SMEs and those based in Worcestershire.
