The award was required to ensure continuity of a specialist fast-track musculoskeletal service supporting employees across the Wakefield Health and Social Care Partnership. Physio Med Limited was already delivering the service and had an established referral pathway, reporting framework and operational arrangements in place. Delaying contractual arrangements whilst undertaking a full provider selection process would have risked disruption to the service and delayed access to physiotherapy support for eligible employees requiring assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. Due to the late notice of the funding, a decision was made to extend the pilot of this service and allow time for a service review to be conducted to inform future commissioning decisions.
