## Summary

East Sussex County Council is procuring a coroner removals service for the East Sussex Coroner Area. The contractor will remove bodies in East Sussex where a death has been referred to HM Coroner. All contractor attendants must hold an up-to-date, approved Disclosure and Barring Service check. Bidders must already hold, or commit to obtain before contract commencement, employers’ liability insurance of £10 million and public liability insurance of £10 million. The requirement is explicitly suitable for small and medium-sized businesses, provided they can demonstrate the necessary staffing, resilience, compliance and specialist experience.

## Notice

East Sussex County Council (The Council) invites bids from suitably qualified and experienced providers to deliver Coroner Removals Services. Services are for the removal of bodies in the County of East Sussex where a death has been referred to H.M. Coroner within the East Sussex Coroner Area. Contractor's attendants must have an up-to-date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check conducted and approved. The contract will be for Three (3) years with option to extend for up to twenty-four (24) months. As this is a demand led service the Council is unable to give any assurances as to the number of occasions and the time of day on which the services of the Contractor will be required. The Council therefore expects the Contractor to have sufficient operational resources to provide cover within the timescales for the area(s) for which they have responsibility, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
