Core services will include grass cutting and edging; shrub, herbaceous and flower bed maintenance; rose bed maintenance; hedge maintenance; young tree and yew tree maintenance; litter, leaf and debris clearance; hard surface maintenance; weed and vegetation control; allotment maintenance; and cemetery services including grave digging, interments, cremated remains, grave reinstatement and associated duties. The Contractor will be required to maintain all sites to the standards specified in the Council's Grounds Maintenance Specification, using appropriate horticultural, environmental, health and safety and operational practices. The service is required to be delivered in a manner that maintains sites in a clean, safe, tidy and well-maintained condition, while taking account of biodiversity, wildlife and environmental sustainability. The Contractor will also be responsible for the appropriate removal and disposal of waste and arisings generated through the service and for complying with all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements. Tenderers will be required to submit method statements covering service delivery, environmental sustainability, staffing, and health and safety/risk assessment arrangements. The contract will initially run for three years, with an option for the Council to extend for a further twelve months, subject to satisfactory performance and the Council's requirements. The contract will comprise annual-priced core tasks together with additional optional works instructed by the Council and paid in accordance with the Schedule of Rates.
