## Summary

NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board commissioned continuing healthcare services for patients across Cheshire and Merseyside. Patient choice accounted for 99% of the stated evaluation weighting and price for 1%.

This award shows demand for a broad local provider network able to respond to individual NHS-funded care needs, rather than a single provider delivering one uniform package. Credible suppliers need the clinical and operational capacity to provide care in line with the statutory National Framework and to tailor delivery to individual patients. Relevant experience spans continuing healthcare, funded nursing, complex and palliative care, children’s continuing care, Section 117 mental health support and specialist learning disability services. The stated evaluation placed overwhelming weight on patient choice, so providers need to be suitable options for patients and able to demonstrate the quality and fit of their care. The direct-award route was used to onboard suitable providers to meet immediate clinical needs; the awarded cohort includes home-care businesses, care homes, specialist organisations and providers of different sizes.
