## Summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust intends to procure a personal dosimetry and environmental monitoring service to support radiation protection, regulatory compliance and occupational safety. The service is for monitoring exposure affecting the Trust’s staff and also supports the protection of patients, the public and the environment. Personal monitoring must cover whole-body exposure, extremity exposure to hands, fingers and/or feet, and eye dose. The work is to be delivered for the Trust in Leeds. The procurement covers radiation dosimeters and radiation protection services.

This is at the planning stage: the Trust has stated its intention to run an open tender, but has not yet issued an invitation to tender. The planned contract is for one lot, with an estimated value of £300,000 excluding VAT (£360,000 including VAT). The proposed initial term runs from 1 March 2027 to 28 February 2030, with two optional 12-month extensions, up to 28 February 2032. The planned timetable indicates a tender notice on 16 November 2026, a submission date of 26 November 2026 and an award by 13 January 2027. These are planning expectations, not an invitation to submit a bid.

The work is suited to an Approved Dosimetry Services provider able to deliver both personal dosimetry and environmental monitoring for a hospital trust. The provider will need to cover whole-body, extremity and eye-dose monitoring, supporting radiation protection, regulatory compliance and occupational safety across the Trust’s activities. The Trust specifically wants a seamless changeover from its current provider, covering monitoring and record keeping, with no interruption to monitoring or dose records. Accurate continuity is important so that cumulative doses remain fully accounted for across the calendar year. Suppliers with the operational capability to manage this transition while maintaining reliable monitoring and complete dose records are well placed to prepare for the planned competition.

## Notice

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are undertaking an open tender to appoint a contractor who can provide a personal dosimetry and environmental monitoring service to the Trust. The service shall support effective radiation protection, regulatory compliance, and occupational safety for staff, patients, the public, and the environment. The Approved Dosimetry Services provider must ensure a seamless transition from our current provider in terms of both monitoring and record keeping. There must be no gaps in monitoring or dose records, so cumulative doses for the calendar year remain fully and accurately accounted for. We require a service which will provide personal monitoring to monitor both whole body exposure [Hp(10) and Hp(0.07)] and dose to extremities [hands/fingers and/or feet (Hp(0.07)] and eye [Hp(3)].
